About Tourism WA

Tourism Western Australia is a statutory authority and part of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. As the State Tourism Organisation, Tourism WA grows the tourism sector by promoting Western Australia globally as an incredible holiday and business events destination; attracting and promoting world-class sporting, cultural and arts events; improving access, accommodation and tourism experiences; and by informing and empowering the WA tourism industry.

Within Tourism WA, we have four main divisions including:

  • Destination Development: The Destination Development Division works with government and the tourism industry to improve access, accommodation and tourism experiences for visitors to Western Australia. Our major focus areas include Aboriginal tourism, cruise line attraction, tourism and hospitality workforce development, and supporting private sector investment into new experiences in and around national parks.
  • Events: The Events Division procures, develops, sponsors and promotes a diverse calendar of sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events. The Division actively bids for major events to attract out-of-state visitors to Western Australia to drive economic and media impacts for the state. The Events Division also supports and develops regional events that motivate travel to WA's regions, and develops and manages a series of ‘homegrown’ events that are owned by the WA Government. Events drive a hook to book a holiday in WA and thereby encourage visitation to the state, as well as add vibrancy to destinations and attract media attention that promotes Western Australia.
  • Marketing: The Marketing Division consists of a head office team and global office teams, located across 12 international markets. The division leads the WA tourism brand strategy and collaborates with partners such as airlines, travel wholesale, retail and online travel agents, on  campaigns to encourage more visitors to Western Australia. The Division works to secure aviation routes to make it easier for people to travel to and around Western Australia. The Division also oversees the development and implementation of the digital and public relations strategies for the agency.
  • Strategy and Engagement: The Strategy and Engagement Division  is responsible for ensuring a collaborative tourism industry; providing executive support to the Tourism WA Board and leaders; facilitating the development of strategy, analysing data and trends; and  promoting and protecting the reputation of Tourism WA. The Strategy and Engagement Division includes the following teams: Industry and Partnerships,  Insights and Planning, Corporate Communications, and the Office of the Managing Director.
